Welcome to the official ActingJet knowledge base. Use the categorized sections below to find immediate answers regarding technical specifications, profile setup, search discoverability, and subscription details.
Click the "Upload" button at the top of the page and select either Video, Photo, or Album from the dropdown menu to be directed to the upload page. Fill in all mandatory input fields. ActingJet supports video uploads in MP4 and MOV formats, and photos in JPEG and PNG formats.
The maximum allowed file size for an uploaded video is 150 MB.
Always aim to upload your videos in landscape (horizontal) format. ActingJet supports this format because it’s recognized as industry-standard in professional casting.
On your ActingJet profile you can upload any video that showcases your acting range, languages, dialects, or other special skills demanded by casting directors. To maximize your search discoverability, make sure to add descriptive tags to your video. We recommend uploading reels of various categories—such as Acting Reels, Showreels, and "About Me" videos. You can also use our drag-and-drop and pinning tools to feature your primary reels at the top of your portfolio.
ActingJet accepts JPG and PNG file formats up to 5 MB in any aspect ratio. Additionally, our built-in cropping tool lets you adjust the composition of your photo’s thumbnail preview if it doesn't match the grid's fixed dimensions.
ActingJet Basic profile allows you to upload up to 15 images (maximum 5 MB per file) and does not support video hosting. ActingJet Powered profile unlocks unlimited video uploads (maximum 150 MB per file) and photo uploads, up to a generous total storage cap of 15 GB.
ActingJet features a specialized video category called Archetypes. To upload one, select an archetype from our official list on Archetypes page, download its attached script, and upload your take on the scene.
While technically possible, we strongly recommend against it. Casting professionals expect to see a continuous, unedited take for submitted scenes. Editing cuts within a scene can be a major red flag, suggesting an actor's inability to deliver a consistent performance or remember dialogue.
No. Every archetype is open to all actors regardless of age, gender identity, or ethnicity. If needed, we encourage you to modify names, pronouns, or locations in the script so the dialogue naturally fits your personal performance context.
Approach your archetype video just like a traditional casting self-tape. However, feel free to get creative with your setting, wardrobe, make up and props to fully support your character choices. It will help your video grab instant attention in the database.
Yes. All scripts on the platform are freely available for use in acting workshops and drama classes.
Yes, you are welcome to use your portfolio material on other platforms and social media. In case of using our scripts, provide a link to the ActingJet website in your video description.
No, all ActingJet scripts are accessible with a free Basic profile.
ActingJet offers two primary search methods, both available via the left column of the homepage. The first is a dedicated Archetypes page where casting professionals can display all actors who have uploaded a take under a specific archetype. The second option is on the Reels page, where casting professionals can filter talent pools using tags like Emotions and Characteristics.
The main "Actors" page displays all registered actors, including the ones with free basic profile. The "Reels" page features talent with a Powered profile who have provided video evidence of their skills. We recommend starting your talent search on the Reels page for fast evaluation of acting skills, and expanding to the Actors page if your specific casting criteria require a wider pool.
ActingJet features sophisticated, multi-layered search filters. You can search by specific cities, target entire countries, or filter broad regions like the EU. For linguistic searches, you can filter by language families (e.g., all Slavic languages) or choose specific dialects and regional accents under major categories like English, Spanish, and French. Filters can also be combined dynamically—for instance, searching for French-speaking actors based in Prague and neighboring capital cities like Berlin, Vienna, and Warsaw at the same time. Finally, you can copy the URL of your customized search criteria to share with colleagues or save for future recruitment.
ActingJet uses a highly detailed, multi-layered search filtering system. To maximize your visibility, ensure your profile is fully and accurately completed—paying close attention to searchable fields like spoken languages, accents, and local hire regions.
A Basic profile supports one primary location and one native language. Upgrading to a Powered profile allows you to add up to three local hire locations and two native languages, significantly expanding your search footprint. Please use these accurately: only list additional locations if you are available to work there as a local hire, and only list a second native language if you grew up bilingual.
Yes, ActingJet offers a beautifully organized and elegant layout for your profile and portfolio. The Basic (free) profile features dedicated tabs for individual portfolio categories, intuitive drag-and-drop tools, pinning options, and the ability to add titles and descriptions to your media items. It also includes an "About Me" section and an image cropping tool to ensure your thumbnail pictures have the perfect composition. Furthermore, upgrading to ActingJet Powered unlocks photo albums to help you organize a vast amount of photography, as well as the ability to upload videos that users can comment on. You can also collect praise and feedback from your acting coaches, pin those comments, and prominently feature them within your portfolio.
Yes, ActingJet offers free actors database access to casting directors and production teams worldwide. It is an exceptionally useful tool for them to discover emerging talent who may not yet be well-established, filter for highly specific casting criteria, and easily identify top talent.
ActingJet features its best-rated videos directly on the homepage. They are categorized into several leagues, such as the ‘Best of the English League’ (displaying the highest-rated English-spoken reels), the ‘Best of the Czech League’ (displaying the highest-rated Czech-spoken reels), and finally, 'Top of the Month', which only includes reels uploaded within the last 30 days.
Only Archetypes, Acting Reels, and Monologues qualify for the ActingJet Leagues.
Placing in the top three positions of any league displays your video directly on the homepage, where it is promoted to all ActingJet users—including casting professionals, directors, and agents. This gives you a massive opportunity to showcase your talent, especially if you lack a strong traditional showreel in your portfolio.
To place in the ActingJet leagues, you need to upload a reel under one of the eligible categories (archetype, acting reel or monologue) and achieve the highest average rating for that specific language.
Search results for both profiles and videos are automatically ranked based on user ratings. Videos with higher star ratings sort above lower-rated choices. To determine an actor's overall profile ranking in search directories, the system calculates a combined score across all their uploaded videos. This structure ensures that casting professionals are primarily presented with top-performing talent options first.
Every registered, logged-in user on the ActingJet platform has the ability to leave star ratings on performance videos.
No. Higher-rated videos always sort to the top regardless of the total number of ratings they have received. In comparison to traditional social media algorithms, ActingJet system maintains fair conditions for exceptional actors who may not have a massive social media following to drive rating volume.
To edit or delete a video, click your profile picture in the top-right corner and navigate to your "Videos" tab. From here, you can delete a video, edit its tags, change the thumbnail, or manage comments. If your video is categorized under an Archetype, you will see a "Re-upload this video" button. This allows you to upload a new take for that same archetype without deleting your previous performance. Upload more takes on one archetype to test different acting or accent choices.
ActingJet’s intuitive drag-and-drop tool allows you to easily reorganize both your video and photo displays. Furthermore, Powered profile users can create photo albums to organize photos of secondary importance, keeping the main grid clean and reserved exclusively for your primary headshots.
Absolutely. We highly encourage sharing your profile and videos directly with industry pros. Simply copy your profile or video URL from your browser. Your public portfolio and uploaded media will be fully visible even to recipients who do not have an active ActingJet account.
You have complete privacy control. You can choose whether to make your phone number and email address visible to all users, or restrict your profile to display only your talent agent's contact details.
Yes. When viewing any video, you can rate it from one to five stars and leave a comment.
Positive feedback and constructive criticism are highly encouraged and appreciated. Hateful, abusive, or purely negative comments can be deleted instantly by the video author.
You have full moderation privileges over comments left on your videos. You can permanently delete any comment, or you can pin it to highlight it at the top of your portfolio layout. We highly recommend using the pinning feature if you receive praise from a respected industry professional, such as an acting coach, casting director, or agent.
When an industry professional—such as a director, casting director, or acting coach—leaves a comment on your video, you can pin it to the "Pinned Comments" section. Anyone who visits your video will see this praise immediately.
To claim authorship of a headshot, first make sure the ‘Photographer’ profession is enabled in your profile details. Next, go to your client’s profile and click on the headshot. You will see a ‘Claim this photo’ button. Click it and wait for the photo owner to approve your request. You will receive a notification once it is approved. You can then pin the approved headshot if you wish to display it in your portfolio grid.
A photographer will automatically appear in the database once at least one of their headshot claims has been approved by the photo's owner.
No. Photographers cannot directly upload images to their portfolio grid. Instead, it builds dynamically when they claim and pin headshots uploaded by actors on their ActingJet profiles.
A Basic profile allows you to pin and display up to 15 pictures. Upgrading to a Powered profile removes this restriction completely, granting you unlimited pinning capabilities for your photos.
Yes. Actors can easily credit their headshot photographers. Furthermore, photographers can claim authorship of a headshot directly from their own profiles to link it to their portfolio. Once linked, the name tags for both the photographer and the actor become clickable links that direct users to their respective profiles.
Yes! ActingJet features a dedicated database of headshot photographers that you can filter by location. To guarantee professionalism, only photographers whose work has been verified by linking to ActingJet profiles appear in this directory. ActingJet allows you to find all crucial photographers in one place and quickly evaluate their work and clients.
An annual Powered subscription is €99 per year, while the monthly subscription plan is €9.90 per month.
Your videos will remain securely stored in our database and will automatically reappear, along with all its data and comments, whenever you choose to renew your subscription. Note that while your subscription is inactive, these videos will be hidden from your public profile since the Basic tier does not support video hosting.
